"Perfect Little Me"
Perfect Little Me was originally created as a means to provide information for Tatiana's family and friends. The process of writing about Tatiana's condition has been a process of healing that is very much in line with Tatiana's journey through life. The site has since evolved into a catch-all space for a mother who struggles to make the world a more just and loving place for the benefit of her little fighter.
When we think of babies, we imagine perfection. Tatiana reminds us that perfection comes in many forms; she reminds us that all children are perfect and that they have much to teach us by way of resiliency, hope, and healing.

About Tatiana
Tatiana is a fairly happy baby, with chubby cheeks and a smile that warms the heart. She was born in April of 2009 with esophageal atresia and tracheoesophageal fistula (EA/TEF), along with a few other complications. Shortly after, she was diagnosed with VACTERL Association. Many of her abnormalities are internal and affect critical parts of her digestive system. As a result, Tatiana has required a few surgeries to "correct" these anomalies. Her last surgery was a colostomy closure very close to her 1st birthday. She is now a thriving six year old well past her terrible twos and beyond her tremendous threes, past the flourishing fours and fabulous fives, and just completed kindergarten as a sassy six year old who has yet to lose any of her baby teeth. Perfect Little Me In my mommy's little tummy I grew the perfect me, Tatiana is what they named me; I’m perfect so you see . . . I’m a perfect little child with a perfect set of toes A perfect little child With a perfect little nose I’m the perfect little me With a twinkle in my eye A perfect little me Mommy please don’t cry A perfect little me With a perfect little face A perfect little me Although, nothing's in it’s place So … I ask you when you see me With all my scars and supposed flaws Don’t cry, or stare, or shy away Because you know, I was born this way It’s made me stronger every day In all my perfect little ways. This poem is dedicated to Tatiana: A strong little woman in the making; you’ve endured more than most little souls. -M.C. |
